I received these Mugs from Mr. Ray McDonald of Clanton AL in 1980. He got them from Mr. Dehner Racey of Springfield MA in 1960. When Mr. Racey bred them they came black, blue, and brown red in color. They still come mostly black red or brown red with a few blue and some solid black. Regardless of color, they're all the same breed and the only difference between the colors is solely color. Also, in Mugs, blue does not breed true.
The Mugs come mostly medium to high station, with very good plumage, and some black faced, some red faced. They have a gentle disposition and love to be handled.
When cockfighting was legal, these fowl were shown in several states and a few other countries having fought in American, Filipino, and Mexican shows.
